Where is your Studio?
We are based in Harding Way, St Ives, Cambridgeshire - St Ives is just off the A14 so very accessible from both Cambridge and Peterborough and just outside the town centre. Harding Way is near to Tesco, BP and M&S.
Why aren't you on the High Street?
Honest answer we are happy to work Sundays when needed but didn't want to be open every Sunday (as the shops are in Town). Also an important factor was we wanted unrestricted free parking and have plenty for you - one less thing to worry about.
Can we pop in and view your work or do we need an appointment?
Many people just pop in - they check the car park and peer through the window to see if anyone is in studio before coming in. If you are coming from further afield please ring ahead and let us know you are coming and we can agree a best time. Even when the studio is fully booked on a Satuday we still leave space between sessions in case they over run so can fit you in. If after work is easier, that's fine, Jon can always stay on after 5pm to meet you.
Will we receive a copy of every photo you take?
Jon goes through each photo taken and removes any like the duplicates and where eyes are closed. The actual number depends on your day and number of hours of coverage - we aim to show you 400 - 500 for an 8 - 10 hour Wedding day.
How long until I can see my photos?
We know you will be keen to see them as soon as possible so we allow time in our diary to start editing your photos straight after your day. You can come in and have a relaxed viewing of your photos in studio as soon as you return from your honeymoon - we agree this date together before your wedding. (For those who are delaying their honeymoon till later in the year the photos will be ready about 14 days after your wedding)
Do you edit our photos?
Jon personally edits every image we deliver to you using a range of professional software tools.
Can our friends and family view our photos?
Once you have been in for your private viewing we upload your images to your secure on-line gallery for all your friends and family to view. We leave little table cards for your guests to take away to help them find and access your photos, we also add the date they will be visable from so they don't keep asking you!
Before your Day
Do you visit our Wedding Venue before our big day?
Yes, Jon visits every venue in advance to look for locations for your photos (even if he has photographed there before in case of changes or renovations). Jon likes to do this with you if at all possible to see your vision for your photos - every couple is different and choose different locations for photos within the same venues. Jon loves to find out what you want rather than assume another couple liked a location so will you. We can tie this into your pre-wedding photo session if you would like.
How many times can we meet?
Our first meeting is a no obligation chat to see if we are the correct match for you - the best weddings run smoothest with the right people working with you in-line with your dream. Once you have booked one of our Wedding Collections we don't restict the number of meetings - a visit to your venue to walk around and chat over your plans, a pre-wedding photo session to chat about the type of photos you would like (either as a couple or as a family if you already have children) have some fun and ask any questions, Jon can visit the church for your rehearsal to meet close family and the official - if you would like. We can be as involved as you would like.
On your Day
How long will you cover my Wedding for?
Our Collections are priced based on Jon starting with your preparations and finishing with your First Dance. Our USB's are priced based on the amount of coverage time you would like so you can choose from our options.
What if our timings over run?
As long as your booking was realistic then what's an extra hour between friends - cars don't arrive (Jon has ferried bridesmaids to the church), services over run, meals finish later than expected, speeches over run, discos / bands arrive later than planned and aren't set up ready for the first dance - Jon has seen it all and never once left just because the time is up. First dance may not happen exactly when you thought but Jon will be with you until just after it does.
Do we have to have group photos?
We are asked this one a lot and the answer is it is up to you. Your family may expect to see some group photos and will ask on the day, but we can do as many or as few as we would like. If you choose not to have group photos you may like to warn close family in advance so it doesn't cause an issue on your special day.
What happens if it rains on my Wedding Day?
As you look through our Wedding Gallery you will see umbrellas and wellies - if you plan for wet and it's dry that's great. Embrace the weather and plan for it. Jon will talk about wet weather plans when you meet up before your Wedding.
Do you carry back up kit?
Yes, Jon has two cameras, each camera contains two cards automatically making a second copy of each image, a number of lenses, flash to cover most eventualities. If in the unlikely event a camera failed Jon would simply carry on with the other one.
Do you use additional lighting for evening photos?
Jon carries additional lighting to create lovely images if you would like those moments captured. If you are enjoying your party and don't want evening/sunset shots then say and the extra lights will remain in the car.
Posing?- we can't do that
As you look through our galleries and see images which look like they have been posed they were without exception the idea of the couple (usually the bride!!) Jon takes his inspiration from you - none of our couples in any of our galleries are models. All are people who trusted Jon to create something special for them. Jon watches our couples to see how they stand and interact with each other and then suggests small tweaks - move a hand, a shoulder, a knee. Jon takes your idea, adds another perspective and then takes it one step further. He does this every day in studio and on location - the process takes seconds. The lighting is set up at speed or in advance and many of his evening images are captured in a matter of minutes in the lull between the end of the Wedding Breakfast and the evening guests arriving - a perfect time for a quiet walk, a little alone time away from everyone else.
Pricing and Booking
Do you offer midweek discounts?
No we offer Midweek Collections priced on a sliding scale so we can price each wedding based on what you would like rather than a one price fits all - so if you would like 4 hours coverage in Cambridge on a Wednesday afternoon with a USB we will offer you a price for that rather than offer a Weekend rate with a small reduction.
How do we secure Jon for our wedding?
Once you are happy to confirm your booking we will provide you with a copy of our booking form. Simply complete, sign and pay your £200 booking fee. Once we have received both your signed booking form and booking fee we will write to you to confirm your booking.
Are you insured?
Yes, Jon has both Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance cover.
Can we purchase albums, prints, frames and canvas wraps after our wedding?
Yes, if you would like to wait until after your honeymoon to consider what you would like to purchase you can. We have built discounts into our Wedding Collections for those who would like to purchase an album in advance, but you are welcome to decide once things have calmed down.
A couple of things to consider:
We have a studio, have been around for years and have a great local reputation.
We develop relationships with our couples and many choose to come back to see us with their beautiful new babies for family portraits.
The price of your photographer is no guarantee of quality - the most expensive is not necessarily the best and the cheapest is not necessarily the worst.
Choose a photographer who you will enjoy spending an entire day with, someone who will deliver what you want from your very special day.
