Wedding Photographer St Ives Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you?
We are based from our Studio in Harding Way, St Ives, Cambridgeshire - St Ives is just off the A14 so very accessible from both Cambridge and Peterborough and just outside the town centre. Harding Way is near to the Tesco Express, BP garage and M&S.
We are perfectly located, easy to find and the best bit we have our own car park right outside our front door - no hike up a High Street through a busy town centre (especially if it's raining) and no having to find a space or worrying about pay and display!
Can we pop in and view your work or do we need an appointment?
Many people just pop in although if you are coming from further afield please ring ahead and let us know you are coming.
Before your Day
Do you visit our Wedding Venue before our big day?
Yes, Jon visits your wedding venue in advance to look for new locations for your photos. Jon likes to do this with you if at all possible to see your vision for your photos - every couple is different and choose different locations for photos within the same venues. He loves to find out what you want rather than assume another couple liked a location so will you. We can tie this into your pre-wedding photo session offered with any of our all day weddings if you would like.
How many times can we meet?
Our first meeting is a no obligation chat with the opportunity for you to ask lots of questions to see if Jon is the correct match for you - the best weddings run smoothest with the right people working with you in-line with your vision/dream. Once you have booked your Wedding Collection we don't restict the number of meetings - a visit to your venue to walk around and chat over your plans, a pre-wedding photo session to chat about the type of photos you would like (either as a couple or as a family if you already have children) have some fun and ask any questions.
On your Day
How long will you cover my Wedding for?
Our Collections are created around specific events during your day rather than a particular time so this is very much in your hands.
Do we have to have group photos?
We are asked this one a lot and the answer is it is up to you. Your family may expect to see some group photos and will ask on the day, but we can do as many or as few as you would like.
What happens if it rains on my Wedding Day?
As you look through our Wedding Gallery you will see umbrellas and wellies - if you plan for wet and it's dry that's great. Embrace the weather and plan for it.
Do you carry back up kit?
Yes, Jon has two cameras, each camera contains two cards automatically making a second copy of each image, a number of lenses, flash to cover most eventualities. If in the unlikely event a camera failed Jon would simply carry on with the other one.
Do you use additional lighting for evening photos?
Jon carries additional lighting to create lovely images if you would like those moments captured. If you are enjoying your party and don't want evening/sunset shots then say and the extra lights will remain in the car.
How do you make your couples look so good and relaxed?
All of our couples in our gallery are real, everyday people on their wedding day who trusted Jon to create something special for them. Jon watches to see how you stand naturally and interact with each other and then suggests small tweaks - move a hand, a shoulder, a knee if needed. Jon takes your ideas, adds another perspective and then creates something lovely for you. Additional lighting can be set up at speed or in advance and many of his evening images are captured in a matter of minutes in the lull between the end of the Wedding Breakfast and the evening guests arriving - a perfect time for a quiet walk, a little alone time away from everyone else.
After Your Wedding
Will we see every photo you take?
Jon goes through each photo taken removing any which don't meet his expectations - where the look isn't quite right, duplicates or where eyes are closed. The actual number we show depends on your day and your chosen coverage.
How long until we can see our Wedding photos?
We know you will be keen to see them as soon as possible (some are so excited) so we allow time in our diary to start editing your photos straight after your Wedding day. This means that you are able to come in for a relaxed viewing of your photos in our studio almost as soon as you return from your honeymoon - we agree a date together before your wedding and have all of your photos ready for you to view on that date. No long waits or delays!! (For those who are delaying their honeymoon till later in the year your photos will be ready about 14 days after your wedding)
Do you edit our photos?
Yes, Jon personally edits every image we deliver to you using a range of professional software tools.
Can our friends and family view our photos?
As soon as you have visited our studio for your private viewing we upload your images to your secure on-line gallery for all your friends and family to view. During your day we leave little table cards for your guests to take away to enable them to access your photos, we also add the date your images will go live to our cards so your friends and family don't have to ask you while you are away!
Can we/our parents purchase albums, prints, frames and canvas wraps after our wedding?
Yes, once you have seen your images in studio and they are live in your on-line gallery you are welcome to come in and choose your images you would like printing and framed.
Can we choose the photos for our album or do you do this?
We want you to be involved at every stage to ensure your album is perfect for you. You choose the images you would like included in your album and from this we produce an electronic proof which you can let us know any changes you would like. We will not place your album order until you have signed off the final proof we have produced together.
How do we secure Jon for our wedding?
Once you are happy we will provide you with our booking form for you to complete and sign. Once you have returned your booking form and paid our booking fee of £200 you are done!!
Once we have received both your signed booking form and booking fee we will write to you to confirm the details of your booking so you have everything in writing. The balance is then due for payment one month prior to your Wedding.
Are you insured?
Yes, Jon has both Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance cover.
What if Jon is sick?
It would need to be something quite bad for Jon to miss your day once you have booked. However if it was completely unavoidable we do know a number of local photographers as well as having links to a much wider network, so if Jon was unable to attend we would contact our network to find another photographer to replace him on your day.
If you have any questions we have not covered please do not hesitate to contact us!!
