Portrait - FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will our session last?
Timings are very much controlled by your group size and the number of photo combinations you would like.  Family sessions usually last around 1 hour.  Sessions for individuals and couples are usually 30 minutes to an hour.  We won’t rush you and will give your children the chance to settle and have some fun.

What do we wear?
Colours and styles that complement each other look lovely in photos.  You may wish to consider a colour theme i.e. everyone wearing a shade of blue, everyone having something red, all girls one colour and all boys another or you may all decide to dress in a similar style i.e. all in jeans, all casual or even all smart.  You are not limited to one outfit.  We recommend you avoid wearing stripes and as a rule large logos can date your photos very quickly.

Where can we have our photos?
Sessions are avilable at our home studio in Somersham or at a local location of your choice.

How far will you travel?
For a great family portrait session I am willing to travel all over Cambridgeshire.  Popular choices have been Milton Country Park, Riverside Park, Hinchingbrooke Country Park, Hemingford Meadow and I have even been to Rutland Water.

Can our pets join us?
Yes! Pets are part of your family so you are welcome to involve them too.  Please remember to have treats on hand as it makes it so much easier for me to hold their attention.

When can I see the photos from our session?
We believe you will relax more for your session once you see how good you look so we offer sneak peeks of the back of the camera with a few images as we go.  After your session we will arrange a time and date for your viewing in our home studio.  Once you have seen your images simply choose your favourites and let me know what you would like.

Do you edit our photos?
I personally edit every image we deliver to you using a range of professional software tools.

We are not sure we want our images posted on Social Media, is this ok?
Yes of course just let me know ~ there are many who work for professions who would prefer not to have their images on-line ~ one of the questions on my booking form covers where are you happy for your images to appear just for this reason.

What if our children do not play ball on the day?
All children sometimes have off days or simply do not always want to participate.  This is nothing unique to them - and unlikely to be something we haven't seen before .  You will be surprised at what we capture once we get them going.  Don't get upset with them, some really settle into it and produce some great results and if necessary we can always rebook the session on another day if all else fails.

What if someone is unwell on the day?
If, on the day, one of you is feeling in any way unwell please contact us to rebook your session.  Whilst I would much rather capture your beautiful moments when you are all able to have fun and are at your best it is also paramount at the moment that you follow Governement guidelines and stay at home.
